Correspondence and other material dealing with the business of the mayor's office, including city finances and budgets, conferences and trips, executive summary files on various city departments, election campaigns, neighborhoods, organizations and businesses in Detroit, position papers, preservation and development issues, relevant U.S. agencies such as the Department of Housing and Urban Development, speeches given by Archer, and copies of the Department of Public Information's weekly Digest. Written notes and published opinions concerning Michigan Supreme Court cases during Archer's period as chief justice. Also included, audio and video tapes, plaques, sports memorabilia, photographs.

L.F. Seymour of Farwell (Mich.) won the bid to construct a gravel road, located mostly in Ionia County and a bit of Kent County (Mich.). Seymour and Frank F. Rogers, the then State Highway Commissioner, signed the contract on Oct. 1, 1920. Seymour later sued for $10,663.21, his unpaid balance. He was eventually paid. Dennis Wayne Archer (born January 1, 1942) is an American lawyer, jurist and former politician. A member of the Democratic Party, he notably served as the 67th Mayor of Detroit, Michigan, the second African American to serve in the office, from 1994 to 2001.
